No, you don’t. There are beginner classes available and many of the people who study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have no prior martial arts training.

Absolutely, we have a thriving Juniors program that is well supervised and safe for children from 5+ to train. Our kids program focuses on the core values of discipline and respect.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a submission based martial art and combat sport. It's central focus is the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling that opponent and using techniques to force them into submission .

How fast can I learn?

You start learning Jiu-Jitsu Self-Defense techniques in your first few lessons. Within a few months of training, 3x a week, you will be able to defend yourself against bigger and stronger opponents.

Will training improve my physical fitness?

Jiu-Jitsu training is a great way of getting in shape without getting bored by the same daily workout or routine. By using every part of the body while training, Jiu-Jitsu practitioners tend to lose weight, get lean and gain muscle.

Do I need any special equipment to study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Students typically wear a Gi (two-piece garment worn by martial artists.) It is also typical for some students may want to wear a mouth guard. It’s a good idea to have a supply of athletic tape, as well.
